District 5300

Welcome from The President

David Briano
President 2014-2015
Rotary Club of Pico Rivera, District 5300

Welcome club members and visitors to The Rotary Club of Pico Rivera’s website where we can display our club proudly to the community and the world. The Rotary Club of Pico Rivera is proud to be associated with Rotary International which is a premier organization that has clubs in almost every community throughout the world.

The challenge this year and beyond is to take the theme of “Light Up Rotary” and figure out how to ignite our own involvement in our club. We can achieve this by not only doing more for our community, but spreading the good word of why Rotary has been around for over 100 years. It is of paramount importance that our philanthropic group of volunteers known as Rotarians grows to sustain viability for the future challenges of mankind.

One day current Rotarians will depart this earth and join the eternal Rotary Club, but hopefully not before passing the torch to other proud members to follow in the footsteps of our founders. We must leave behind a magnificent, thriving organization whose motto is “Service Above Self.”

The legacy of our first Chinese Rotary International President, Gary C. K. Huang, selected an old proverb from Confucius, a Chinese philosopher, who said, “It is better to light a single candle than to sit and curse the darkness.” There is so much difficulty in the world and the need for help is at its greatest. Many people look at this and say, “There is nothing I can do.” So they do nothing and in turn nothing changes.
This is not the Rotary way. The Rotary way is to light a candle. I light one candle; you light one candle and so do more than 1.2 million other Rotarians. Together we can do so much more than we could ever do alone. Together we can light up the world.

So the torch has been lit, but you must maintain the fire to grow Rotary within. Spread the flame for all mankind to benefit from Rotarians for years to come.

What will your legacy say about you and the Rotary Club of Pico Rivera?

Continue to navigate to find out what we do in our community, in International joint projects and please consider joining a Rotary Club.

Thank you,

David A. Briano
2014-2015 Rotary Club of Pico Rivera President
